Nayanthara is the daughter of Kurian Kodiyattu, Retired Indian Air Force official, and Omana Kurian. She has an elder brother Leno, who is nine years elder to her. She did her bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Marthoma College kerala.
In 2003, Nayanthara did her film debut in Sathyan Anthikkad’s malayalam film Manassinakkare opposite Jayaram. The film was a high financial success. In 2005, she was cast opposite Sarath Kumar in Hari’s Ayya, debuting in the Tamil film industry. She starred opposite Rajinikanth in the comedy horror film Chandramukhi. She next made her debut in Telugu, in the film Lakshmi. She starred in the film Gangster film Billa, opposite Ajith Kumar, a blockbuster success at the box office.
In 2010, She starred in 4 south Indian language films, Bodyguard (Malayalam), Adurs and Simha (Telugu), Boss Engira Bhaskaran (Tamil) and Super (Kannada),went to become commercial successes. In 2011, she played the role of Sita, in the mythological film Sri Rama Rajyam by Bapu. She won Filmfare Award for Best Telugu Actress for this film.
